State College/University Association's New CEO Appoints Director of Government and Legal Affairs

Trenton, NJ - January 9, 2012

Michael W. Klein, who became CEO of the New Jersey Association of State Colleges and Universities (ASCU) this month, today announced the appointment of a new Director of Government and Legal Affairs, Barbara Berreski, Esq.

Berreski, of Moorestown, NJ, previously was employed, since 1991, with N.J. Department of Law & Public Safety, most recently serving as a Deputy Attorney General in the Division of Law. See resume for additional details.

"I'm thrilled to have Barbara on our team," Klein said. "Her extensive experience in legislative affairs, as well as her work on issues regarding labor and community affairs, will greatly enhance our efforts in Trenton to represent the interests of the state colleges and universities and public higher education."

Klein, of Pennington, NJ, was appointed CEO by the Association's board of directors at its meeting in June 2011. He succeeds founding CEO Darryl G. Greer, who retired December 31. Previously, Mr. Klein served as the Association's Director of Government and Legal Affairs. See biographical sketch for additional details.

The Association is chartered, by law, as a nonprofit, nonpartisan policy organization with a mission to advance the collective interests of New Jersey's nine state colleges and universities, and to advise the governor, legislature and others on fulfilling the higher educational needs of New Jersey citizens.

As such, the Association is unique nationally among the states as a public college association serving its member institutions, public policy makers and citizens.
