The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer

Darryl G. Greer, Ph.D.

Dr. Darryl G. Greer has been the executive director of the New Jersey Association of State Colleges and Universities since February 1986; he is the founding CEO.

Dr. Greer actively advises on New Jersey and national higher education policy.  He has served as a strategic direction consultant on several campuses and on foundation-funded public policy projects, such as the Higher Education Research Project funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts, and the National Commission on Responsibilities for Financing Postsecondary Education.  He has served on the American Council of Education's (ACE) Commission on Government and Public Affairs, and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) State Relations Council.  Furthermore, he has advised the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education, as well as the Center for Public Higher Education Trusteeship and Governance, at the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB).  Affiliated with the Academic Search Consultation Service since 1989 to 2002, he has consulted with trustee boards nationally on numerous college presidential searches.  He has published numerous articles concerning higher education politics, finance, governance, and equal opportunity. 

Before becoming the Association's chief executive, Dr. Greer spent four and one-half years as Director of Governmental Relations for The College Board, based in Washington, D.C.  Other previous positions include Policy Planning Officer, Office of the President, The College Board, New York City; Assistant to the Chancellor, Ohio Board of Regents; and Legislative Research Associate, Ohio Legislative Service Commission.

Dr. Greer's Ph.D. in political science and an M.A. were awarded by Stanford University. His undergraduate degree in political science was earned at Indiana University.  Dr. Greer was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters by Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in May 2000, and a Doctor of Laws in 1999 by William Paterson University.
